NERD Signs with Bounce House

We at Bounce House didn’t have to go too far to discover our next artists, looking just beyond our headquarters in Amsterdam to find NERD based out of Tilburg, NL.

NERD (Nu Een Rondje Deephouse) is comprised of DJs Bockieman (Robert van de Laarschot) and Missinglinx (David Stockx).  The two have been teaming up since 2005 with their love of Chicago House being the common draw. This is their first release and it just so happens to be on Bounce House.

Trevor Vichas back in the house!

Label: Bounce House Recordings
EP: That Feeling
Artist: Trevor Vichas
Remixers: DK Watts, Kenny Summit, Terry Vernixx
Catalog: BHEP45
Release Date: 30 September 2013

Trevor Vichas makes a return to Bounce House Recordings with a disco and funk-fueled stomper that grabbed our attention at the Bounce House headquarters immediately.  Trevor, a native of Portland, Oregon, has been churning out some head-turning productions the past 4-5 years and we are happy to have him back on the label.  For remixers we added Good For You Records label boss and regular chart topper Kenny Summit.  Kenny, who is now based in LA, puts his signature sampling stamp down on his version of “That Feeling” that literally does time-warp you back to 1975.  Underground head and New Mexico native Terry Vernixx makes his debut on Bounce House with a straight-up 4 on the floor deep, groover.  Quality track by a quality producer!  And rounding things out, Bounce House main man DK Watts keeps his remix on the deep tip for the late-night house heads.

New artist Mesake on Bounce House

EP: Madness

Artist: Mesake feat. Rita
Remixers: Adam Collins, DK Watts, Johannes, Low Cool, Sean Johnson
Catalog: BHEP43
Release Date: 19 August 2013

Bounce House heads to the Baltics this time, discovering up-and-coming Lithuanian artist Mesake.  The vocals to “Madness”, are performed by Rita, whose mysterious voice reeled us in immediately. The track is sung in her native Lithuanian tongue and roughly translates to English like this: “In the dark a streak of light is playing and in the song there is one note lost. It seems that the sun is becoming bigger, everyone has changed and everyone has become angry.”
For remixers, we brought on some serious talent.  Adam Collins (courtesy of Euphoria Records), drops a primetime groover that pushes the deep and tech house parameters.  Collins also teams up with production partner Chris Clepper as Low Cool (courtesy of Euphoria Records) with an analog gem.
Label boss DK Watts churns out a vocal and dub version for all hours of the night, while Johannes makes another return to Bounce House with a minimal, almost chillout style that would wobble anyone’s mind.
Dizzy Funk Music and Diesel City Recordings honcho Sean Johnson, rounds things out on the deep and funky tip with his wicked interpretation of “Madness”.

Konig im Exil on Bounce House

EP: Das Licht
Artist: Konig im Exil
Remixers: DJ Hal, DK Watts
Catalog: BHEP42
Release Date: 24 June 2013

König Im Exil (German for ‘king in exile’) is a musical endeavor influenced by minimal techno, krautrock, ambient, trance and electronic music pioneers from the 70′s and 80′s. The members (Robert Smit aka Sick Boy & Rodger Mettenday) joined forces in 2011 to create music from a different starting point than a commercial one. Separately the two König Im Exil founders scored commercial successes for acclaimed strongholds like Spinnin’ Records (NL) and Dim Mak Records (US). Their first combined achievements consisted of atmospheric remixes for Kill Hannah (Chicago, US) and Bomb the Bass (London, UK). Das Licht is the first original track being released with many more to follow.
For remix duty, Bounce House sought out industry stalwart DJ Hal fresh off his recent release on Get Physical.  The Nottingham, UK native has seen his name splashed on a number of top labels and Bounce House is happy to have him on board.
Rounding things out on the remix tip, label owner DK Watts churns out a deep groover primed for those early evening and morning sets.

Blasts from the Past – 10 years of Bounce House!

LP: Blasts from the Past
Artist: Short Bus Kids
Remixer: DK Watts
Catalog: BHLP01
Release Date: 29 April 2013

In 2003 DK Watts and Lance Leber joined forces as the Short Bus Kids and launched Bounce House Recordings.  In 10 years time the face of the music industry has shifted incredibly with vinyl giving way to digital downloads (mainly the mp3).  The early Bounce House releases on vinyl were essential in putting the Short Bus Kids on the map, before the label fully embraced the digital age. In the past decade many noted artists have worked with Bounce House (Da Sunlounge, Kinky Movement, Alexander East, Rob Pearson, Al Bradley and Oded Nir to name a few) as well as many up-and-comers.  The label has been supported by a number of top club and radio DJs worldwide and has been recognized by industry magazines such as I DJ Magazine, De:Bug, Chicago 5, DJ Mag and DMC.

To celebrate 10 years of Bounce House, label owner DK Watts has remixed and edited select Short Bus Kids tracks mainly from the label’s vinyl days.  The album also includes a bonus previously unreleased track (The Way) as well as remasters of 2 other top Short Bus Kids tracks (Workin and Gotta Get Up).

We hope you enjoy this album and we appreciate the support you have given us in the past 10 years.  Here’s to the next 10 years!

Tomorrowland

How to Enjoy Your First Electronic Music Festival

So, your goal is to go to the epic Tomorrowland in which you saved for it for almost a whole year. You’ve always been a regular at Le Pompon and Le Carmen in Paris and it’s no wonder that you’re always at the middle of the dance floor with the crazy crowd dancing the night away. So it’s high time that you go to your very first electronic dance music festival, don’t you think? Sure, you and about a couple thousand people will be sweaty, dancing in a sea of humans but are you physically and mentally prepared for a real dance music experience?  This is the real deal, the big leagues. You can also check out Marvelous Festival Island in Paris.
If it’s your first time going to an electronic dance festival, it can be quite an experience. Like playing poker, you need to be focused yet flexible when attending one. You can also practice your gaming strategies and skills when you download the newest android app from partypoker français. With its easy to use game interface and interesting game play you can play anytime anywhere with just a swipe of a finger. You can also improve your game play by watching video tutorials online and getting pointers from Antoine Saout during the World Series of Poker tournaments. You can now play poker without the hassle of dressing up and going to a real casino but if you’re looking for the thrill of live poker you can join the tables at Casino Croisette in Cannes. You can become a poker expert in no time and you can even play this on your android phone during your downtime at an electronic dance festival. But first, you need to do your research. Which artists and what dance stages are you going to? Set an itinerary so that you and your friends won’t waste time deciding where to go. Set up a common meeting place where you can rendezvous with your friends after the sets. It’s also important to know what things you’re allowed to bring before you get held up by the security which can be quite embarrassing. You can also check out France’s most famous outdoor music festival, the Rock En Seine.
Most importantly, remember to charge your phone so that you can contact your friends anytime anywhere. Don’t also forget to also charge your camera. It can be a total bummer when you see your favorite DJs play a massive set and then see your camera flicker its last breath of battery life. Drink tons of water, you wouldn’t want to be dehydrated and exhausted from all that dancing you’re going to do. Finally, dress comfortably. You don’t want to have any wardrobe malfunction especially when you’re a girl. You can also check out Pitchfork Music Festival in Paris.

Ross Richards joins the family!

EP: Funk it Up
Artist: Ross Richards
Remixers: Lance Leber, DJ Sulli & 5657
Catalog: BHEP41
Release Date: 18 March 2013

Bounce House Recordings adds another talented artist to the family in Leeds native, Ross Richards. Ross also runs the respected imprint TUG Underground Records with partner Rob Small.  We are pleased to add him to the ever-expanding roster with 2 top original tracks.

The EP title track “Funk it Up” should have mass appeal to a number of different house heads with its swinging baseline and chopped vocals…definitely a party jam.  “Ninja Work” has that sort of groove we just plain ole’ dig at Bounce House.

For remix work, we brought back former label partner Lance Leber to work his magic.  He doesn’t disappoint with a tech-funk groover primed for the late night.

For the main hour, DJ Sulli (Hype n’ Soul Recordings) & 5657 deliver a real chugger that should fill any club’s dance floor.

Featured on this EP are some familiar faces as well as a few new ones.
Here are a few tidbits about each track and artist:
On the opener, Label Boss DK Watts serves up a dosage of deep house with “Tonight’s the Night,” while Bounce House regular Easy Ryan crafts a helping of sexy deep house with “Give me Love”.
For the third track, Amsterdam native Johannes makes his debut on Bounce House with a proper deep-tech groover in “Rhythm Corona.” John Joseph makes his 2nd return to Bounce House with the floor-filler “Distraction”, and Spanish producer Lelu rounds out the EP with his first appearance on the label with the tech house peak-time jam, “Do It”.

EP: Breakin’ Thru

Artist: Dawn Rebel DJs

Remixers: DK Watts, Lee Guthrie

Catalog: BHEP39

Release Date: 17 January 2013

Bounce House is pleased to kick off 2013 with the Dawn Rebel DJs.  Robin Savage & Reuben Pearce AKA ‘Dawn Rebel’ have been producing, remixing and DJing for the last six years, the award winning production duo from Brighton have been working hard in the studio to hone and refine a brand new sound which is a delicate blend of deep jacking’ house and futuristic techno. The duo’s previous releases gained regular airplay on leading shows such as BBC Radio 1′s Anne Nightingale, Fabio and Grooverider, Mary Anne Hobbs and others worldwide. Their versatile productions can also be heard on countless adverts and TV shows.
The 2 original tracks on this EP, Breakin’ Thru and Private Dancer, both are straight up jackin’ tech funk primed for the main hour.
For remix work, we head back to the UK for Click Therapy main man Lee Guthrie.  He turns out a back 2 basics style re-work of Private Dancer, uber deep and techy.
Bounce House label boss DK Watts gets in on the action with a housier version of Breakin’ Thru.
